Collectors of automotive esoterica may well appreciate this flashy ride which was ordered and customized by fallen Libyan dictator Col. Gaddafi and nearly conveyed him on his rounds in Tripoli. The Maybach 57S Coupe is of course originally a sedan, and  hails from the short-lived Xenatec conversion run. It is one of eight produced by the coachbuilder in the early days of the last decade.

Germany-based Xenatec planned 100 examples of the 57S ‘Cruiserio’ in 2010, but the project ran into funding issues and was forced to stop. Designer Fredrik Burchhardt, who had been on a similar project launched by Italian company Exelero, was behind the shapely saloon, which was priced at around $1 million.

Gaddafi never took delivery of the graceful coupe—which is finished in desert tones inside and out, and features a long list of luxury touches including massaging seats, an onboard cooler and soft close doors—as the Libyan Civil War erupted just months after he commissioned it. He was assassinated in 2011.

The car is located in Holland, and has less than 1,500 miles on its odometer. It is available from dealer Auto Leitner for 795,000 euros.
