With his new Frank Gehry postmodern in Santa Monica to call home, film producer Jason Blum is looking to sell his condo unit at L.A. Live. The Blumhouse Productions founder shelled out almost fifteen mil for the estate—a two-house compound on a verdant and exceedingly private lot—and listed the condo a few months later at $6.995 million.
The relist doesn’t come with a price cut, though. The 4,300 sq. ft. unit is presently asking $7 million on the nose.
With its uncluttered, midcentury-inspired style and warmth, the residence is remarkably refined in execution. The unit’s stunner is the large, open living area, with a wall of glass panes that give the L.A. skyline a sense of immediacy; the master bedroom is similarly affecting.
Other highlights include the hallways—remarkable statements of scale that echo the city view, and are designed to feel like enclosed balconies—and the kitchen, a curiously intimate space in black and white.
Blumhouse releases of the near future include a new Paranormal Activity franchise entry. The original installment grossed nearly $200 million against a production budget of $15,000. And the sequels didn’t fare too bad either: Paranormal Activity 2, 3, and 4 grossed $178 million, $207 million, and $143 million with production budgets of only $3 million, $5 million, and $5 million, respectively. Also in the works at Blumhouse is an adaptation of true-life ocean-survival tale A Speck in the Sea.
