Ares Design is back in the news with a new vehicle that uses a Land Rover as a foundation.

One of the coachbuilder’s notable creations is its Pantera homage, the Panther ProgettoUno, which uses a Lamborghini Huracan as a foundation. The car neatly conflated 1970s style with contemporary tastes.

In some sense, the Defender Ares has turned in marks a similar approach which might be called a house style at this point. The company had in mind a series of ‘Legends Reborn’ vehicles that would provide collectors and enthusiasts with meaningful examples of classics that would be idealized versions of the originals.

The most recent Defender Ares has modified—they call it the Defender Spec 1.2—has certainly been altered into an idealized ride. It picks up where the last Ares Defender left off, and receives the same V8 engine. The brake system has been beefed up, and the interior has received a flashy treatment with carbon fiber trim and bench seating.

Completing the build are custom components, and a bevy of features including Bluetooth, push-button start, a better AC system and a new steering wheel.
