The Hawaii retreat that was at one time a haven for actress Julia Roberts is back on the market this winter.
Roberts and husband Danny Moder purchased the bucolic tropical spot back in 2011, taking possession of the property for $13.4 million; they listed it at $30 million about four years later, eventually selling it for $16.2 million to producer Mike Fleiss. Fleiss has, in turn, listed the Kauai estate to begin 2021; the two-acre Hanalei Bay property returns to the open market at $34.5 million.
The waterfront estate’s overall living style is ideal, getaway-wise. Endlessly laid-back and entirely unpretentious, the 3,790 sq. ft. six-bedroom main house and its accompanying guest bungalows let the Garden Isle landscape and beach do most of the talking; the 1915 build vintage shines through the renovations that have been executed over the years. The interiors are breezy and relaxed, with clapboard walls, hardwood floors, and exposed beams.
The structures and lanai are set back far from the beach, giving them a strikingly meditative view: a long carpet of palm-dotted lawn rolling down to the intense blue of the Pacific.
Fleiss is the creator of the Bachelor franchise.
