Developer Gala Asher’s six-acre Los Angeles estate is back on the market. The current ask for the contemporary property—which features interiors spanning about 38,000 sq. ft.—is $85 million.
The property’s history is interesting; spec-built and completed in early 2018, it first appeared on the market in the spring of that year with a $135 million asking price.
Asher’s previous projects have been successful. In 2016, he sold Pistons owner Tom Gores a newly developed Los Angeles luxury estate for $100 million. More recently, he sold Kylie Jenner a luxurious contemporary for $36.5 million. But the property known as Wallingford Estate—which Asher purchased in 2016 as a French-style that had originally been modeled after Marie Antoinette’s residence, overhauled as an alpha trophy, and listed in 2019—received a series of price cuts over the past couple of years, and another $10 million reduction this past summer. It remains one of the gem in the stratospheric mega-home market.
The interiors of the main home frequently cite enormous scale; proportions are beautifully rendered, and original details give it a touch of history. Its amenities include a spa with a massage studio, hair and nail salon, and a sauna, and seven suites all told, including a 5,300 sq. ft. master. The estate also includes a 5,000 sq. ft. penthouse, a caretaker’s house and a guardhouse, and a covered 2,500 sq. ft. outdoor entertainment space.
