DJ Paul Oakenfold’s L.A. Modern Lands on the Market to the Tune of $3.7M

This home—new to the open market courtesy of current owner DJ Paul Oakenfold—has an interesting history. It was designed by longtime Alfred Hitchcock creative collaborator Robert Boyle, who was the filmmaker’s production designer on five classics, including North by Northwest and The Birds, and who designed some of Hitch’s most studied scenes. The home served as Boyle’s personal residence.

Oakenfold has owned the house since 2015, according to public records. He’d like to sell it to you for $3.695 million.

The midcentury home’s exterior boasts the earthy flash of a timber-and-glass modern; it suggests Northwest Regional. The earth tones of the exterior give way to interiors dressed in dramatic neutrals and dark-stained plank hardwood, with a red brick fireplace hearth echoing the patio and walkway, dark red tile countertops in the kitchen, and a few industrial design elements including a black steel staircase.

The living room, with the gentle angles of a vaulted plank ceiling, a freestanding fireplace, and a wall of glass combining the interiors with stunning views, is a gem. Just as compelling is the outdoor living space, an intimate series of little lounge spaces with a built-in bench and a vine-sheltered brick terrace overlooking the city.
