Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have a fairly long history in the real estate market. In California, the couple has been very active in the past few years; in 2018, they sold a waterfront estate in the beachside city for $45 million; in 2019, they marketed a $7.5 million modified and nicely brushed-up 1970s beach cottage and around the same time purchased a desert spread in California for $4.9 million; and, back in 2017, the supermodel and nightlife investor picked up an updated modern in Beverly Hills for $11.6 million.

The couple’s newest purchase finds them on the other coast, and diving into the coastal South Florida residential market, where things seem to be heating up at the moment. Gerber and Crawford paid $9.625 million for this home against a $10.9 million ask; the five-and-five had been only the market for less than a month when they formally took ownership.

The local community is a holdout of old Florida aesthetics. The house was completed in 1955 and, unlike its Mediterranean-flavored neighbors, is designed in the modern style, its many intact period details a refreshing change for the area; the open, optimistic living style suits the setting admirably, and the massive stacked stone fireplace accent wall in the living room compliments the expanse of water and sky beyond the glass wall.

The duo may have scored a relative bargain in closing on the 3,800 sq. ft. waterfront house in Miami Beach on New Year’s Eve, but it’s also very possible they scored the spot as a getaway. And, as midcentury homes continue to be very popular—as the recently rapid sale of this period time-capsule in Riverside County attests—the couple may be contemplating a tasteful period renovation and near-future sale.
