Grammy Award-winning artist Meghan Trainor is the new owner of this villa in Encino. The singer-songwriter paid $6.55 million for the guard-gated, 1998-built 9,936 square-footer, which contains six bedrooms and at least seven baths inside, and a large outdoor living area that occupies about an acre of land on the border of the sixth and seventh districts of the neighborhood.
The home formally begins with a porte-cochere that prefigures the motor court; a set of grand steps with Mediterranean balustrades rises to a double-door entry capped with a second-floor balcony.
The home’s foyer is grand indeed, with herringbone-pattern and plank hardwood floors adding a little down-to-earth warmth to a double-staircase, double-height design, with requisite glitzy chandelier presiding. The interiors develop as an odyssey of sorts, with French doors occasionally embellishing room-to-room transition, and homey additions including fireplaces and built-in shelving.
More striking rooms include the kitchen—which features a tray ceiling finished in plank, a rusticated backsplash, and a center island—and the master bath, a spa-like affair with a massive soaking tub and a sauna. A billiards room, media room, and wine room fill out the interior amenities.
The outdoor recreation area is a beauty. A pool with a waterslide, a tennis court, a series of patios and a guest house are all included among the very private lot’s lawns and landscaping.
Trainor’s major-label debut album, titled Title, went to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Her latest, A Very Trainor Christmas, was released a couple of months ago.
