Emilia Clarke purchased this high modern-style in Venice Beach for $4.6 million about four years ago.
The actress hefted the architectural heavyweight onto the rental market about a year and a half later, asking $25K per month for the 2,817 square-footer, and listed it for sale for $5 million about a year and a half after that. A series of price cuts followed as the home waited for a buyer, the last leaving the ask at $4.5 million before the home sold this holiday season for $4.4 million.
The home’s exterior is expressed in poured concrete, steel and glass, and it boasts a moody, almost brutalist façade that might come across as too tough were it not for the lush green landscaping that frames it. Inside it is open and very bright, with multi-pane oversized windows, pocketing glass walls, and 15’ ceilings. A highlight of the home is the wall of built-in hardwood bookshelves in the glass-enclosed living room, which is finished with a rail ladder for access and a fireplace centerpiece.
The lot is mostly occupied by the house, but the layout allows room for a lap pool, a shady meditation garden, a covered outdoor living room, and a private green glade of a patio.
Clarke starred in 2019’s box-office hit Last Christmas; the film grossed over $120 million.
