This week, business pitch expert Robert Herjavec listed the contemporary farmhouse in Los Angeles he picked up a little more than a year ago. The ‘Shark Tank’ personality listed the Hidden Hills property for $17.5 million.

The smart home features an extravagant entryway finished in what appears to be reclaimed timber—an intensely rustic architectural embellishment—but once inside the house develops as contemporary and warm.

Contrasts in this home are quite effective. The open-concept main living area boasts natural-toned hardwood, while the ceiling is completed in plank that’s finished considerably darker. In the great room, a soaring vaulted ceiling is given an even darker treatment, as are the floating shelves in the niches that flank the imposing floor-to-ceiling fireplace accent wall.

Specialized spaces in this house include a lower-level gym, a home theater, and a library. Outside, the nearly two acres of grounds feature gardens, a zero-edge pool, fire and water features, and a detached guest house.
