A look into the Porsche archives by way of the Porsche Unseen book reveals striking Spyders, Living Legends and various Vision electric vehicles. This chapter in Porsche’s revealing history of partially developed designs is a track car for the budding Formula E driver called the Vision E.

The Formula E series is considered by Porsche to be as much a means of testing incoming alternative-energy drivetrain tech and bringing credibility to electric cars as much as it is a traditional high-stakes track competition. The Vision E is based on the Porsche 99X Electric track car, but intended for serious amateur and private electric race-car drivers. It features a center cockpit and an incredibly low center of gravity.

Other pages from the Porsche Unseen book include designs Vision 920, and 906 Living Legend. The Vision 920 was intended to be a road-legal track car, while the 906 Living Legend was a ‘super sports car’ with a remarkably aerodynamic design.
