Candice Bergen listed her Hamptons retreat this holiday season; the property, which has been a secluded escape for the Murphy Brown star and her husband Marshall Rose for over two decades is priced at $18 million.

The house was designed by architect Jaque Robertson, a Hamptons-area resident who passed away earlier this year. It was sensitively renovated in the early years of the century.

The home features a symmetrical façade with an ornamental centerpiece: a second-floor dormer with a pediment crowning a decorative eight-pane porthole window. The first floor is dominated by a languorous wraparound porch.

Inside, the house is designed to be awash in daylight; an endless array of windows and glass doors, with clerestories a constant; off-white walls and ceilings, and natural-toned and fairly glossy oak plank floors are other features of the first level. The second floor features a very large master that is positively ebullient, and finished in a bright, refined country-house style.

The property’s two acres of grounds are given over to lawn, with stone walking paths meandering to reveal gardens and a pool inside a border of ancient trees and hedges.

Bergen was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her turn opposite Burt Reynolds in 1979’s Starting Over. She won a slew of Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for Murphy Brown. Her latest projects include Let Them All Talk; the film also stars Meryl Streep and was released earlier this month on HBO Max. Her upcoming pictures include As Sick As They Made Us, also starring Dustin Hoffman and Simon Helberg.
