Plastic Surgeon Raj Kanodia Asking $99M for Bel Air Home—Down From $180M

In the spring of 2019, plastic surgeon Raj Kanodia put his massive contemporary modern in Bel Air up for rent at $1.5 million per month; it had been offered for sale at $180 million. The superlative property, which Kanodia built on speculation as an ultimate residential statement, has remained unsold since.

The estate returns to the market late in 2020, with an asking price of $99 million. That’s likely near the knuckle for the virtuosic doc, who had invested at least $70 million in the property at the time of the initial listing in 2018.

The house is, of course, a be-all-and-end-all solution. A glassy, strikingly realized affair boasting 34,000 sq. ft. of interior living space, and building materials like exotic woods, limestone, and marble. Its accommodations include a score o’ bathrooms, and numbering among its amenities: a wet bar, an outdoor pavilion, and multiple suites. The 1.17-acre lot allowed abundant space for leisurely gardens with water features and a 90-foot zero-edge pool.

Interestingly, the house is located next door to the extravagant-to-the-point-of-silliness spec build of home shopping fashionaire Bruce Makowsky. That property listed in early 2017 for $250 million, and ultimately sold for $94 million in the last quarter of 2019.
