Back in 2007, oil billionaire Rod Lewis purchased this ranch outside Telluride, Colorado, at an auction. Lewis paid $6.27 million for the legendary 400-acre estate known as Last Dollar Ranch, but a dozen years later he’s put it up for sale again. This time around, the property sold for $17 million; but its acreage has swelled to 700 in the intervening period.
The dramatic natural landscapes of the ranch have represented ad campaigns by Marlboro cigarettes, among other brands; its Sneffels Range mountain vistas are rugged and strikingly beautiful. The spot is considered a landmark in the Telluride area, although it is situated about 20 miles outside the resort town, on Hastings Mesa. Over the years, neighbors of Last Dollar have included gentleman cowboy fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
The property is anchored by a nearly century-old Victorian-style house with three bedrooms. Additional accommodations on the estate include a guest cabin, and secondary structures include a large barn.
Lewis’ net worth is north of $1 billion.
