John Wayne’s onetime ranch near California’s wine country is back on the open market this fall. But there’s no accompanying price cut to sweeten the relist; the owner’s sticking to their guns at $8 million.

To be sure, the property known as Rancho Pavoreal is a unique opportunity. The house is a plainly rustic affair of stucco, original 1950s tile and bare-bones hardworking ranch lifestyle, but the lot comprises 2,000 acres in Sage, an unincorporated community west of Temecula, in Riverside County.

The property, which is comprised of 10 individual parcels and entirely bordered by fence, includes three wells and horse trails. It’s strikingly beautiful country, with Palomar mountain in the distance.

Wayne began to assemble Rancho Pavoreal in the 1950s, as his star crested. The property bordered another ranch, which was owned by a similarly high-profile figure: Walt Disney.
