About eight months after its initial listing, actioner actor Jason Statham’s midcentury modern in the Bird Streets neighborhood is back with a price trim. Statham listed the home for $6.995 million in late winter; going into another winter without a buyer has prompted a judicious chop of $800K, leaving the property’s ask at $6.195 million.
The house was a fixer-upper for Statham, and during the tenure of his ownership the home was thoroughly renovated in keeping with the period feel of the original build. The 3,000 sq. ft. house dates to 1957.
Flourishes include the cedar that lines the ceilings and the underside of the roof extensions; the accents offer a discreet whisper of warmth to the property’s living areas, and a bit of ballast for the toughness of the concrete used for a patio material and the floors within, and also for the sharp angles that jarringly spice up the architecture inside and out.
One of the finer features of this hidden gem is the private outdoor terrace that gives a lovely SoCal context to the owner’s living style. A saltwater basalt pool and a detached barrel-shaped sauna are among the classy amenities of this recently transformed property.
Statham stars in the upcoming Wrath of Man.
