Porsche and Embraer have come up with a matched set for the jet set: a 911 Turbo S and a Phenom 300E. The two-tone painted pair—one an automotive legend that began over half a century ago, the other a remarkable contemporary success story—requires an investment north of $10 million, and ten sets will be produced.
The Phenom 300E is something of a sales phenomenon. The small business jet from the Brazilian firm has been the best-seller in its class for nearly a decade. The plane can accommodate up to 11 passengers in its ergonomically-designed cabin, and reach Mach .8. It has a range of just over 2,000 nautical miles.
The jet’s silver metallic and grey metallic paint job was matched in the 911 Turbo S, of course, which, although limited to the surface of the earth, can wrench 640 horsepower from its 3.8L V6 and deliver 590 pound-feet of torque, enough to take it to 60 in 2.6 seconds, and a quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. Not bad for a non-turbine-powered vehicle.
Porsche likes to link lifestyle accessories with their cars these days, and this set is no exception to the rule. Buyers who opt in on the set will receive a set of branded luggage and a 1919 Globetimer UTC watch, an ideal pair: one helps to make negotiating quick trips effortless, and the other tracks time saved through speed.
