On a mission to downsize his retreat, actor Rob Lowe recently sold his expansive estate in Montecito for nearly $46 million, but replaced it in short order with this more manageable spot in Beverly Hills. The property closed toward the end of last month for $3.75 million.
The extensively renovated modern was built in 1950, but as it stands it feels quite contemporary. It is situated in a particularly quiet corner of Beverly Park, and features an exterior distinguished by stucco, boxy LED sconces, and a brand new porte-cochere back entry that is completed with mesmeric pattern tile.
Steel-framed doors and windows are an essential feature of the rebuild, which transformed the 3,000 sq. ft. of interiors into a contemporary living style—marble, off-white, open and vaulted ceilings, and mid-toned wide-plank hardwood express the common areas. Flourishes include rusticated masonry, extensive use of marble—especially in the baths—and a bit of Moroccan-pattern tile for the kitchen backsplashes.
There are five bedrooms and three full baths in this house. The master features French doors opening onto a private balcony, a spa bath, and a large walk-in. Among the indoor amenities in the revised home is a wet bar and wine room; outside, a pool and fire pit cover down-time essentials.
The lot isn’t large, but it is exceedingly private—the house hugs a hillside, and is protected by a tall border of privacy landscaping.
Lowe currently stars in television series 9-1-1: Lone Star.
