Rolls-Royce has built long-wheelbase versions of the Phantom in the past few years, turning the half-million dollar flagship touring car into a limousine. This year, Rolls informs that the same treatment can be had on the newly revised and relatively modestly priced Ghost. Meet the Ghost Extended.
The Ghost retains its appealingly youthful looks, with a fascia that’s a little more gregarious than the Phantom’s loggerhead, and concise lines that clip some of the old-school extravagance from the body language. It’s still a Rolls, of course, and looks heavier than a Sherman tank, but it’s infused with an inviting contemporary quality that appeals to younger generations.
The Ghost Extended adds nearly seven inches to the standard Ghost, giving the rear cabin that discrete feel of a limo, and amping up the comfort level. But the stretch treatment doesn’t add much in terms of weight, and the longer Ghost tips the scales at just 100 pounds over its elder—and shorter—brother.
As the engine options transfer from the standard Ghost, the interiors become the locus of revision in this case. Rolls installs a champagne fridge into each example, and the nifty Serenity seat can be optioned. Photos below show the limo sporting the Starlight Headliner, a heavenly option which no Ghost owner should be without.
