Drivers particularly enamored of Audi’s ‘Sportback’ design will be happy to know that the automaker will be continuing to build the Q5 in that iteration for the 2022 model year. This week, Audi revealed the 2022 Q5 in the popular sloping crossover body shape.
The roof lines of the incoming version of the Q5 Sportback are even more concise than the soon-to-be outgoing model. In back, a pair of spoilers—one roof, and one lip—is followed by a crease at the bottom of the hatch, a graceful progression down to the bumper.
The Q5 Sportback is a performance car, so expect to see Audi loading it with their 3L V6; the bigger engine produces nearly fifty percent more horsepower and torque than the standard Q5’s 2L four, with numbers coming in at 349 and 369, respectively. An eight-speed automatic gearbox and AWD round out the drivetrain fundamentals.
Inside the cabin, the changes for 2022 include the newest version of Audi’s infotainment tech, as well as a 10.1” screen, dropping the MMI wheel in favor of an elegantly simple touch design. Creature comforts in the upcoming model year include customizable ambient lighting.
The 2022 Q5 Sportback should arrive in dealerships next summer, alongside the standard Q5.
