Television writer and producer Bill Prady bought a Tudor-style home in Toluca Lake recently. The property didn’t have to wait terribly long for a buyer to come along who was smitten with the style and location; it was listed for $5.2 million in early July, and sold less than two months later for $5 million even.
The .4-acre lot overlooks the Lakeside Golf Club, and is landscaped with a dream-like, meandering series of tree-dotted waterfront lawns and gardens and a two-level brick patio, one half of which is covered by a pergola, the other boasting a reflecting pool.
Inside the home, exposed beams and ceiling trussing, a brick floor, mullion windows, wood paneling and built-in shelving, and semi-gloss plank hardwood give the 1920s-built post-and-beam a refined rusticity. In the common area, a paned bay window flanked by casements looks out to the dock and the centerpiece of the back yard: a gnarled and venerable shade tree that holds court between house and lake.
The five-bedroom, five-bath home’s amenities include an office and a guest or maid’s apartment with separate entrance.
Prady is the creator of The Big Bang Theory. His writing and producing credits also include Gilmore Girls and Dharma & Greg.
