Actor Josh Brolin did a little house-hunting in Georgia this summer, and turned up this farmhouse style that fit the bill. An offer of $3.25 million against the property’s $3.4 million ask did the trick, and the Academy Award-nominated thespian won the keys to the deep south getaway, which is situated just north of Atlanta.
The home’s exterior voices a strongly expressed symmetry, with a covered porch and stone giving the impression of a little local history; in point of fact, this house went up in 2003. It was a custom build, though, and details emerging from a look inside reveal the care that went into its construction.
First and foremost is the conspicuous use of reclaimed timber; the beams were clearly salvaged from a barn or industrial building. The home also carries a certain starched Southern formality, with very traditional design elements that culminate in a dining room with a crystal chandelier and a coffered ceiling. A great room with a two-story vaulted ceiling, an open-concept kitchen and family room, and a screened rotunda living area lined in hardwood and featuring a stacked stone fireplace are other spaces of note in the house.
The total accommodations of this property include a guest house and an in-law or staff apartment. Bedrooms total at least five, and there are at least six baths overall. A pool with a stone waterfall, a media room, and a gym account for the better recreation and fitness options of this unusually fine smaller estate near Buckhead.
Brolin played Thanos in the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbusters that include Avengers: Infinity Wars and Avengers: Endgame. His upcoming films include Dune, with Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet, and Flag Day, with Sean Penn.
