Could it be that John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are displacing current real estate news champs Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi? A curious honor, perhaps, in light of more serious news and artistic evaluation, but the couple does seem to be engaged in a mood of rather furious acquisition and divestment, and hardly a season goes by that does not find them listing anew or adding to their portfolio.
The duo’s most compelling purchase this year was perhaps the rustic/urbane lower Manhattan unit they picked up in a building where they already owned property, giving them a much larger footprint in the carefully-composed 19th-century conversion. A high modern in West Hollywood followed, and a high modern rental in Beverly Hills followed that.
This week, the pair added another slick contemporary modern in Beverly Hills to their growing collection of properties, and they might call this place home for a little while. At nearly 11,000 sq. ft., the 2020-built house is a whopper, and it sits on a nearly one-acre lot in Beverly Hills. It ran them $17.5 million against an $18 million ask, but it initially hit the market right after completion this winter with an ask of almost $19 million.
The home is designed as an indoor/outdoor living style, but its most compelling design feature may be the ceiling portal that opens up the first floor to the second, liberating both in the process. Amenities include a 100’ saltwater infinity pool, a lounge with a fire feature, an office sporting walnut shelving, a home theater, and smart tech.
The home is superbly realized, and registers in the vein of the more desirable trophy properties that dot the 90210 landscape.
