Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron listed this charming, 1925-built stucco-and-tile Spanish-style in Hollywood Hills this week. The heavily modified 2,019 sq. ft. cottage is priced at $1.895 million. Theron has owned the property since 2005.
With its new or new-ish windows so conspicuous in front, you might expect the interiors of this house to err on the side of the contemporary. You’d be right. The charm of the style remains, though, in the grace of arched portals and barrel ceiling. But the more romantically effusive elements of the style are absent, and this home is an ideal ‘blank canvas’ for its new owner. Its oak floors appear to be more recent.
The common areas have been modified into an open-concept space. A gas unit has replaced the home’s original wood-burning fireplace. Other more recent additions include skylights; added over the years, they breathe additional life into the interiors. The home’s four bedrooms include a suite with French doors that open to an invitingly green and quite secluded backyard, where a pool and pool house—now purposed as a studio—await.
Theron stars in the upcoming F9, aka Fast & Furious 9, alongside Vin Diesel, Helen Mirren, and John Cena.
