After a long odyssey on the open market, former Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander’s longtime waterfront retreat in Southern California sold this month. The house was initially listed in 2012 for just under $18 million, and closed at $16 million.
The glassy, 9,300 sq. ft. box contains—according to its listing—only three bedrooms; not a beachfront mansion for a family, then, but a place for a couple to entertain. The entire third level is designed as a private sanctuary, complete with kitchen.
The interiors are a little flashy, but not terribly so. Onyx and granite appear as embellishments, and the staircase is graced with a filigree balustrade and illuminated by a roof light. A wet bar and fold-away glass walls are among the amenities.
The home is located on La Jolla Shores Beach; It is one of just 22 residences on this particularly scenic stretch of coastline south of L.A.
Alexander’s net worth is around $2 billion.
