Emilia Clarke—most famous for playing dragon-loving Daenerys in ‘Game of Thrones’—is selling her home in Venice, California, for $4.995 million. The two-bedroom house was constructed in 2009, and boasts interiors that present a few genuine surprises, and much to please the eye.

From the street, the property is nicely concealed by a line of privacy hedges. This soaring flora does its job well, and the home is entirely out of the line of sight of passersby.

Inside, the home offers a very effective sense of scale, most forcefully in the great room, where a double-height ceiling liberates the living style, and a pleasing balance of industrial and artisanal—poured concrete and a floor-to-ceiling bank of custom built-in bookshelves with a rail ladder—that comes off as warm and cerebral. A floating wood staircase with a glass balustrade, a fireplace, and a kitchen with a black soapstone-capped waterfall island and a soaring bank of cabinets round out this essential space.

Other details of the home include pocketing glass doors that open to the secluded outdoor living area. A venerable olive tree, a 30’ pool and a covered veranda are highlights of this property’s exterior.

Clarke starred in last year’s Last Christmas. The film grossed over $120 million at the box office.
