The summer of 2020 found Madonna in Beverly Hills, according to Variety. To while away the fraught season, she opted to take a rental in the 90210. The property is titled Maison Roger; the monthly fees are undisclosed but said to be north of $100,000/month. Madonna’s no stranger to the neighborhood; her old Beverly Hills compound was listed by billionaire Russell Weiner in 2017 for $49 million and is currently available for $30 million.
The rental was designed by architect Paul Williams, who was recently featured in a PBS documentary called ‘Hollywood’s Architect’; he built houses for Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball, among others. He built this one for actor Bert Lahr.
The home’s outdoor living area was likely a deciding factor for Madonna. The grounds extend to 1.38 acres; along the way is a series of loggias, a pool and spa, a sauna, a putting green, a tennis court, and a koi pond with a water feature. The location is, of course, very private, with a secluded feel.
The house’s interiors boast some splendid details, including carved stone fireplace surrounds, exposed ceiling trussing, and dark-finished oak and stone tile floors; the living room is an idyllic little spot, flanked by exterior walls inset with sets of French doors that open to the property’s gardens and outdoor living area.
Amenities include a separate structure with a two-lane bowling alley and games room, and a wood-paneled bar and entertainment lounge. A detached guest house adds another two bedrooms and two baths to the home’s accommodations.
Madonna is the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time, with he concerts grossing $1.4 billion.
