After about a year on the market, the former home of movie star Rock Hudson has attracted serious interest. The property had been listed at $3.35 million prior to the acceptance of the offer; it had started its most recent run on the open market at $5.5 million.
The 2,800 sq. ft. English cottage-style house was built in 1937. It is positioned just above Sunset, offering unique views of Los Angeles from its banks of multi-pane windows and its outdoor living areas.
Hudson’s one-time retreat contains three bedrooms and four baths. The shared living spaces feature stone and hardwood plank floors—a few rooms are carpeted—as well as mahogany paneling and mirrored walls. A saloon, a guest or staff apartment, and two second-floor suites are included in the layout.
Outside, a pool and a cabana give this property a secluded feel that belies its location. A deck and a large terrace are ideal for taking in the sweeping views of downtown.
Hudson starred in 1956’s Giant alongside Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean. It grossed $39 million—a record for a Warner Bros film that wouldn’t be broken until Superman was released in the late 70s.
