John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been on a home-buying kick this year, with a pair of notable residential property purchases under their belt since the springtime. One of the homes was a property in West Hollywood, a green-designed contemporary modern the couple picked up for $5 million. The other was a penthouse unit in a boutique building in Manhattan; that new unit was the third the couple has owned in the Nolita condo complex in the Brewster Carriage House building.
A sale was perhaps called for, so the duo has put this 1966-built Beverly Hills modern up for sale for $23.95 million. They bought the property about four years ago; it was formerly owned by Rihanna.
The interiors of the 8,520 sq. ft. house are open and quite graceful; a staircase with a sculpted, solid balustrade arcs into a second-floor catwalk is one highlight of the great room, and the poured concrete fireplace accent wall is another. Flat-finished hardwood floors add a little rusticity to the goings-on, while a two-floor bank of oversized glass offers a breathtaking sense of continuation to suffuse the room’s living style.
There’s a fair amount of playful stylistic intersection in this house. The kitchen boasts exposed ductwork, a poured concrete backsplash, and floating shelves, giving it a strongly expressed industrial feel, while the dining room is decked out with a kind of postmodern baroque treatment, complete with crown moldings. Amenities include a home theater with tiered seating and a fitness room. The master bath is a beaut, decked out with a marble soaking tub and onyx sinks.
With nearly nine-tenths of an acre to play with, the exterior layout is relaxed and uncluttered. A heated saltwater pool, a spa, a pizza oven and grill, and a vine-covered pergola top the list of the outdoor recreation area.
Legend’s latest album, Bigger Love, was released earlier this year; he is currently touring on it. Teigen stars in Chrissy’s Court on Quibi. The show was renewed for a second season.
