A charming estate in Los Feliz was, until recently, owned by Annapurna Pictures founder and Oracle heiress Megan Ellison.

Ellison has a taste for unusually affecting properties just as she has an eye for unusually affecting films—back in 2017, she picked up an astonishingly literate stunner in Beverly Hills from cinematographer Janusz Kaminski—and the spot in question also has its consolations of cultural cachet. Ms. Ellison picked it up about two years ago for a little less than eight million, and handed it off this month for a little more than eight million.

The deliriously romantic period Spanish-style begins with a gated entrance flanked by rambunctious flora; the gates feature a peaked, clay tile roof as a prologue. The home’s interiors are similarly steeped in idyllic warmth, with abundant terra-cotta tile, open-trussed timber ceilings, stucco, sculpted fireplaces, French doors, recessed built-in shelving, and the odd skylight.

The lot is a lesser fantasy: a terra-cotta tile patio and pool area, a front entrance with an original water feature standing sentry, walking paths, stone walls, and edge-of-wild landscaping to give the grounds that feeling of absolute seclusion and spell of timelessness that makes a classic upper-tier Spanish Eclectic style so enduringly popular among those with an artistic eye.

Annapurna Pictures’ crime comedy-drama Kajillionaire is slated for release next month; the film stars Evan Rachel Wood, Debra Winger, Gina Rodriguez, Richard Jenkins, and Patton Oswalt.
