Nearly concurrent with the reveal of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series—a fully realized, alpha-performance version of the model we covered recently—is the announcement of the updates to the regular production GT for 2021. Mercedes announced the changes on the way for the next model year this month.
Keeping the GT competitive in the exotic car marketplace is a whole host of performance features that are standard for 2021. The litany includes an electronic rear differential, AMG’s adaptive suspension, and a 48-volt starter.
Mercedes-AMG squeezed a bit more power out of the model’s 4L V8 engine for next year. The difference is significant; an additional 53 horsepower that puts the car’s available at 523. The GT also includes the Race mode in the base sticker price.
Inside the car, AMG Performance seats are sheathed in Nappa leather. The color scheme can be optioned as Night Edition for 2021, and the upsell gets you a black treatment with piano-gloss trim and console.
Pricing for the 2021 Mercedes-AMG range starts at about $140K in Europe. U.S. Pricing to follow.
