Academy Award-winning producer Phil Lord is the new owner of this very private estate in Malibu; according to Variety, Matthew McConaughey was the seller, and he accepted just shy of fifteen million dollars for the property. The deal was conducted quietly off-market.
And a whisper listing would be just the ticket for finding a buyer for this house. An unusually fine slice of Point Dume, the lot extends to over an acre. The property hasn’t been seen on the market in well over a decade—or more—so details about it are scant, and images are confined to aerial shots. The house features 3,800 sq. ft. of interior living space, with four bedrooms throughout.
But the aerial shots do reveal the essence of the property: a living style that’s well insulated from prying eyes by a considerable border of trees, formidable walls, and imposing gates. It also comes with deeded access to Little Dume Beach—a wonderful perk worth the price of admission.
McConaughey won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his memorable performance in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club. He starred alongside Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant last year in The Gentlemen.
Phil Lord is associated with a string of high-grossing blockbusters; he co-directed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, and 22 Jump Street, and co-produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
