A Japanese concern is behind the flashy, rounded, pebbled-leather satchel you see below, which is ideal for melon-sledgehammering comics…or just anyone who likes a nice piece of watermelon on a hot day. It’s a rather specialized item; beautifully made, but with a single purpose: toting that largest and most subtly flavored of sweet summertime picnicking delights. As long as it’s not the oval variety, of course; they don’t make bags for those yet.

The leathergoods item is the brainchild of Yusuke Kadoi, a designer who is part of the team at Tsuchiya Kaban, a firm specializing in bags, card cases, and accessories. The work was part of an initiative called The Fun of Carrying, where artisans had complete creative freedom.

We’re not sure how much it costs, but if you need one, we’re pretty sure Tsuchiya Kaban has the monopoly.
