New from Mercedes-AMG? A variation on the flagship performance car, the GT, which features an overhauled 4L V8 connected to a flat-plane crankshaft.

The variant is called the GT Black Series, and it’s on the way for the 2021 model year. From one end to the other, the powertrain has been opened up, and the end result, with the revised and even more efficient V8, is a substantial boost in power: the Black Series GT delivers up to 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It can reach 60 in 3.1 seconds.

This GT builds on the knee-buckling beauty of the series, though, with a whole host of aero features that can be adjusted by the driver on the fly. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series should arrive on U.S. shores in the first quarter. Pricing starts at $389,000.
