Victor Hugo is the subject of Montblanc’s newest Writer’s Edition series entry. The venerable and detail-oriented maker of writing instruments introduced the set of eight Hugo-inspired items: five pens, and three accessories.

The series features references to Hugo’s most famous novels, Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as representations of Hugo’s home and workplace on Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands.

The limited-edition collection includes ballpoint, rollerball, and fountain pens. Four of the pens are decorated in the Gothic style; design flourishes include nibs impressed with the image of a gargoyle from Paris’ most famous cathedral. Prices start at $830, and extend to $4,300.

Accessories in the series collection include an ink bottle–$43—a 1-pen pouch priced at $260, and a notebook that may be purchased for $85.
