We can probably skip the quip about ‘roughing it Vuitton style’ without ruffling the feathers of too many readers. But this year’s summery Paris Fashion statement from the House of LV does indeed give the impression of a merger between literate Vuitton whimsy and the transcendentalist ‘transparent eyeball’ romance of a woodsy foray.

The most intriguing item is the tent, a classic two-person design gone over with the hiply kitschy Vuitton brush. Its exterior, which is decorated with the familiar logo, gives way to an interior designed as an azure sky with a judicious dash of picturesque cumulus. A fine way to wake to a cup of hot cocoa on a rainy morning.

Accompanying the tent is a pair of steamer trunks outfitted with top handles and backpack straps. The bags feature businesslike, hard-wearing rivets and leather reinforcements, and top-opening hinged lids. The Monogram Mirror and Monogram Cloud hand trunks come in blue, black and silver, with the latter sporting the Autumn Collection’s cloudy sky interior that mirrors the tent’s design.
