MLB pro Max Scherzer pitched $9.75 million for this waterfront estate in Jupiter, Florida, and scored the keys. The property extends to seven-tenths of an acre, and is crowned with a 7,778-square-foot French plantation-style home containing five bedrooms and eight baths. It was priced at $10.5 million.

The house is young—it went up in 2018—and its traditional French tropical style is supported by contemporary design elements, especially in its interiors. Its dramatically hipped roof gives way to eaves with exposed rafters, and a second-floor balcony extends across the façade. A trio of contemporary-looking French doors at ground level opens the home generously to the landscaping, and an attached garage makes an L of the structure.

In keeping with the style, the interiors are warm and relaxed; there’s no hurry in weather predominantly warm, and that is the spirit of the atmosphere created here. Out back, the indoor/outdoor living space develops nicely with a pool and pool house, a spa, and covered and uncovered exterior lounge and dining space.
