Sitcom star-turned-television-director Joanna Kerns and architect Marc Appleton listed their longtime home in Montecito for sale barely a couple of weeks ago, and market forces have apparently been favorable. The tasteful home caught the eye of a discerning buyer; it is currently in pending status, though backup offers can be submitted. The ex-couple is asking $8.5 million for the villa, which was built in 2006 in the Tuscan style.
The home’s interiors are mighty convincing. Period-style paint, antiquing, and a series of rustic touches accumulate into a Tuscan daydream of a house. The kitchen is fully developed in the home’s particular form of fantasy; lose the stainless, and the metaphor would be a hard one to argue.
As is the case with many of the ‘Montecito style’ estates we’ve covered, the grounds are as essential to the overall effect as the homes themselves. In this case, we find various water features, walkways, and walls in the landscaping, all stone. Mature trees, a variety of plantings and gardens that evoke both the Montecito climate and the geography it suggests, a guest house and outbuildings fill out the nearly two acres of land.
