Professional sports figure Dean Spanos listed his longtime retreat in La Jolla this month for $18 million. Spanos purchased the property in 1997, and had the home custom-built.
The 10,285 square-footer boasts Balinese and modern-style inspiration in its exterior architecture, and interior layout and design flourishes. The design places a central courtyard with a pool at the center of the living style.
Stone tile or pale plank hardwood floors, plank and backlit tray ceilings, and a shared living space with a step-down living and dining area and a fireplace accent wall are other notable features of the six-bedroom, ten-bath home’s indoor living spaces. A second living-area fireplace in the family room uses highly figured marble as an embellishment, and features a full wet bar.
The lot extends to about three-quarters of an acre. Coastal views from the terrace are strikingly attractive, and a stone walking path meanders through the lawns, orchard, and gardens.
