Comic actor, writer, and rock-and-roller Carrie Brownstein listed her hip Los Feliz cottage around the middle of this month for $1.85 million. Ten days later, the home’s sale is all but sewed up.
The 1923-built, occasionally vine-covered cottage has charm to spare, despite the fact that its common area has been bowdlerized into the contemporary style. Its built-in shelving, glass doors, staircase, angular upper-level ceiling lines, and lesser details—including a louvered pantry door in the kitchen, and the tongue-in groove and fixtures in one of the water closets—give it a strong period identity.
The home’s three bedrooms are optimistic spaces, and there are a number of creative spaces in the home, including a little alcove and an attic converted to a music studio by the home’s current owner. Outside, a pool with a sunlounge and surround in what appears to be original tile is hidden away amid a green corner, giving it a very secluded feel; a fairly large deck completes the outdoor living areas.
