The Land Rover Defender is back in production, and the 2020 models are finally arriving on U.S. shores. The model is no longer made in Britain—it’s being made in the Slovak Republic—but it’s good to have it back, and it should be in dealerships this month.
The new Defender is outfitted with a 2L four-cylinder that produces 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A 3L turbo is also available, and comes with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that helps it deliver up to 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, a very substantial boost that’ll be worth it to many buyers of this particular utility vehicle.
Standard for 2020 is four-wheel-drive, as well as adjustable ground clearance. For 2020, options include a winch, storage, and a third-row seat.
Prices for the 2020 Land Rover Defender start at $51K.
