With her Miami Beach estate still not sold—and into its fifth year on and off the market under her ownership—golden piped chanteuse Gloria Estefan has trimmed the price of the 8,000 square footer once again in an effort to stir up serious interest. The property began its open market marathon in the late winter of 2015, at $40 million. The latest trim to the ask leaves it at a more accessible $27.9 million.

Estefan and her husband Emilio—who is also a musician, and who shared leadership duties of the popular 1980s and 1990s band Miami Sound Machine—have owned the estate since the early 1990s. The Caribbean plantation-style house is located in the uber-exclusive enclave of Star Island; it was built in 1940.

The property is a harmonious expression. A red brick motor court with a landscaped centerpiece contrasts nicely with the white façade of the house, and the lush green of the landscaping. A second-floor balcony extends the full width of the home, setting a tone of relaxed tropical living.

The interiors are breezy, with formal overtones. A white treatment makes the most of natural light, and oak floors give the living spaces some texture. Details include a hand-carved fireplace mantel, as well as built-ins, crown moldings, and ornamental arches. The kitchen is farmhouse design-inspired, making the home a postmodern expression; a backlit plank ceiling is both contemporarily atmospheric and comfortably traditional.

There are eight bedrooms and eight baths in the home, including a master which occupies a substantial chunk of the upper floor. The grounds measure in at over 1.3 acres, a luxurious amount of space that allows for a series of riffs on the idea of warm-weather largesse: a guest house, a summer kitchen, a gazebo, and a lengthy arcade/arbor supported by vine-covered columns.
