Back in 2018, Demi Lovato put her Hollywood Hills residence up for sale for just under $10 million. The listing came in the wake of a medical emergency suffered by the pop singer; the home had unpleasant associations. But it wasn’t an easy sell, and a steady whittling away of the asking price ensued over the next two years, as well as a short-term lease.
So this week’s sale was something of a mixed blessing. The house is gone, but at a cost; the selling price was $8.25 million against Lovato’s purchase price of $8.3 million. Not a crushing financial loss by any means, and hey, at least it’s past tense.
As for the house itself, it’s a not-bad contemporary that does the modern industrial farmhouse combination quite well. It’s a substantial home, measuring in at 5,600 square feet, and thoroughly contemporary inside, where bleached plank hardwood floors and an emphasis on interior/exterior living dominates the living style; there’s no shortage of Fleetwoods here.
The layout breaks up the living areas into lower and upper levels, with a half-vaulted ceiling presiding overhead. On the lower level, a monolithic contemporary fireplace puts a bit of moody atmosphere in the air, and above it all a large clerestory adds even more breathing room to the common area. On the top level, the master suite—an extravagant space—is the only occupant.
The views from the hilltop location are very fine. A winding footpath ambles down the hill to an intimate little cabana, taking advantage of the 1.2-acre lot to bring a little romance into the mix.
