Actor Robert Conrad’s 1980-built high modern waterfront home in Malibu surfaced on the market this week. A buyer with $5.195 million can take over ownership of the renovated midcentury-style.
The consolations of the property are many. Tops on the list is the large lot size—almost three-quarters of an acre in Malibu is a fairly luxurious degree of breathing room. The coastal flora and lawns slopes away gently toward the water, and although the home isn’t a waterfront, the lot allows for a great deal of privacy and a very secluded feel.
The house is a gem. The great room features a double-height ceiling and a second-floor overlook; a bank of oversize windows on the second floor illuminates the space beautifully. Industrial design elements are balanced with glossy, warm-finished plank floors, and a bright white treatment combines with the angularity to form an optimistic and cerebral feel.
Clerestories and sliding glass are used extensively in the 3,765 square-footer, and the house opens to the open expanse of patio and lawn frequently. A salt-water pool and spa, a volleyball court, a putting green, a BBQ station, and a fire pit expand the outdoor recreation potential.
Conrad passed away earlier this year.
