Capitals’ Ilya Kovalchuk Asking $16M for New Jersey Chateau After Price Cut

Ilya Kovalchuk—Capitals left wing at present—put his castle-like New Jersey mansion on the open market this week. He’d like to get $16 million for the place, a grand not-so-old pile of 22,000 square feet that went up in 2018. The price reflects a $2 million discount from last year’s listing price.

The chateau boasts over 22,000 square feet of interior living space; its exterior features turrets and spires a-plenty. Its lot is correspondingly substantial, measuring in at over two acres.

The home’s interiors are not yet completed, so the home is, at present, a work-in-progress, and an opportunity for customization.

As of now, the home contains a large dining room with serious catering potential; a great room, a bar and lounge room, a library, and a guest or staff bedroom with en suite bath are a few of the other spaces in the house. A home theater, a large indoor pool—two, apparently, counting the plunge pool in the basement—as well as a spa and gym, a wine room and a games room.
