Married actors Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello—she of Modern Family, he of True Blood and, more recently, actor in and producer for feature Bottom of the 9th—purchased a sprawling Mediterranean-style mansion in Beverly Hills.
The couple shelled out $26 million for the estate, which culminates in a 17,000-square-foot house that borrows heavily from Tuscan architecture. Materials are superb, of course, and include Italian travertine floors, wrought iron chandelier and pendant fixtures, and imported limestone.
There is a touch of the operatic about the home. The entryway is nothing short of flamboyant, and details include hand-painted murals, ornamental columns, stained glass panels, Roman arches, and a colonnade foyer.
Standout rooms include the kitchen, which features slab onyx and a floor in hand-painted tile. The dining room is exceedingly formal; a bit too black tie in execution, perhaps, but with inlaid natural stone tile floors that are unusually fine. A salon that features sets of French doors opening onto the outdoor living area, an office with wood paneling, built-ins, and inlaid oak floors, and a master suite with a private sitting room and a bath boasting an alcove tub with a gas fireplace and electronic drapery are other notable spaces.
Amenities include a gym with dry sauna and a games room. The lot is a big one for the 90210: 1.8 acres, with lawns, a guest house, and a pool and spa with cabana.
