A second home has vanished from Jeremy Piven’s real estate portfolio.
Within weeks of selling his Malibu waterfront to Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Piven listed this penthouse in Manhattan for $7.75 million. Unlike the sale of the Malibu house, the sale of the penthouse in Tribeca was fairly quick.
However, like the property in Malibu, the unit in Tribeca sold for quite a bit under ask. Piven’s roost in Malibu was initially priced at $10.5 million, ultimately selling to J-Rod for $6.6 million; the penthouse on Hudson Street sold for $5 million against a not entirely unreasonable ask of $7.75 million. Piven paid $4.8 million for it nearly a decade ago, so it’s more or less a break-even affair.
The 3,000-square-foot duplex is graced with warm, satin-finished walnut plank floors, a finished, sculptural ceiling, and plentiful glass, including a spectacular roof light. There are two bedrooms and three baths throughout the property.
The kitchen is expressed in terms of commercial stainless and reclaimed timber; a trifle passé, but the look dates well enough. The master is clean and warm, looking suitably lofty, in keeping with the building’s pre-WWI history. A rooftop terrace joins a garden terrace off the master in providing exterior living area in those joyous Mungo Jerry months. Views of the Village and greater New York City are excellent, and the building is situated just a few blocks east of the river.
Entourage star Piven became a stand-up comedian in 2019. His latest film is the upcoming Crabs in a Bucket.
