With ‘Better Call Saul’ yielding great bounty for all principles concerned, we may see more than one acquisition by a lead or supporting player native to the show. One such native, Patrick Fabian, known for his masterful performance as lawyer Howard Hamlin, is a devoutly transplanted Californian, and he’s spending a few pre-summer days moving into an endless summer lifestyle in Malibu, having parted with $11 million for a naturalistically-updated midcentury modern beachfront pad in the high-dollar city.
The 4,300 square-foot home’s strident modern lines and transparency is grounded somewhat by a great deal of preserved wood—exposed beams, floors, staircase treads all have been given a particularly low-impact treatment, leaving the wood looking very close to its natural form: clear, and one would surmise eco-friendly, too. The main level is loft-like; very open, and presenting inviting warmth without effusion, with a huge amount of glass giving it a particularly unobstructed feel.
The exterior living areas are comprised of a series of balconies and terraces; a patio is squirreled away adjacent to the entrance.
Fabian, a Pennsylvania native, moved to California in the late 1980s to complete an MFA at Cal State Long Beach.
