In the first half of the last decade, Reese Witherspoon and spouse Jim Toth purchased this Pacific Palisades mansion for $12.7 million. The purchase came following a tasteful update by architect Ken Unger who set about conducting a major overhaul of the residence before passing it on to the couple in 2014. It was that same year that they sold their project estate in Brentwood, a series of contiguous properties that they acquired over the course of about a decade.

The enterprising couple sold the Pac Pal mansion recently, according to Variety, shopping the estate around town off-market and selling it just as quietly. The couple first put the word out that the five-and-five was for sale in 2016, apparently, but the $20 million ask was asking too much, and no buyer materialized.

The buyer who eventually stepped forward with $17 million to buy the property did so with cash.
