In October of 2018, Florida-based musician DJ Khaled took ownership of a trophy estate in Miami Beach. The seller, interestingly enough, was ‘Baby on Board’ sign inventor Michael Lerner, a man who knows firsthand that all it takes is one good idea. The property exchanged hands for $22 million.

Khaled’s lesser mansion in Bayfront went onto the open market about two months later—and there it remained until this month, with the occasional price trim to keep it strictly visible. It started its run this time around at $8 million—decidedly ambitious, considering Khaled paid $3.6 million for it in 2015, according to public records, although he did apparently revise the interiors extensively. When $6 million was proffered, Khaled accepted.

The 6,697-square-footer contains five bedrooms and seven baths. The interiors occasionally hint at the palatial, with 30’ ceilings, ornamental columns, grand chandeliers, and marble floors on display in and around the great room, and the master taking itself very seriously indeed; a formal corkscrew staircase takes a stab at the sculptural. The kitchen comes off a bit more down-to-earth, with a window seat turning its dayroom into an ideal espresso-and-FSOJ spot for early AM.

The exterior features tropical landscaping, a patio, a pool and spa, a 50-foot dock, and 240’ of frontage on the Bay.

Khaled’s creative and business outlets include an interior design collection: We the Best Home. The line was launched in the summer of 2018.
